Statistics show that in service provider networks, about 40% of network alarms cannot be associated with any particular network equipment because the equipment name or ID format in the alarm cannot be found in the inventory. At best, manual alarm hunting takes at least 15 minutes and at worst, can cost as much two person-days. In the meantime, alarm resolution is delayed.
