Transport “Elephant Flows” without Compromising Datacenter Connectivity QoS and SLAs

Datacenters sometime require moving many terabytes of data across a network. These “cloud bursts” often challenge networks. Since datacenters require much lower capacities under regular operation, a real, cost-effective solution to this requirement must provide high capacity on demand, but on demand only.
High-speed Link Between Two Datacenters Is Created on Demand
Supporting cloud bursts in the IP/MPLS layer alone is not economical because it entails vast over-provisioning. Supporting cloud bursts in the Optical layer is likewise uneconomical since it implies connecting the datacenters directly to the Optical layer and dedicating optical resources just for this purpose.
The only economical solution for cloud bursts involves temporary addition of IP links using shared optical resources and requires multilayer provisioning, which is an inherent capability of Sedona’s NetFusion platform.
